Clos Cantenac

Our History

“I purchased this enchanting Saint Emilion vineyard in January 2007, along with my great friend and wine enthusiast Marcus Le Grice from New Zealand. Now in our fourteenth year of ownership, we continue to work in a traditional way to produce these fine wines.”

Our Winery

Our South-facing vineyards use only sustainable products and techniques to protect the environment.

We hand-harvest and on occasion visit individual blocks several times before picking perfectly ripe grapes, which are then hand-sorted, destemmed and sorted again to make sure that only perfect grapes make it into the bottles that carry our name.

“We are careful to respect the history and tradition of the region whilst recognising the changing growing conditions of each new vintage”

Clos Cantenac St Emilion Grand Cru 2015

“Accomplished and elegant already, with time in the glass that graphite quality becomes even more marked, but it’s balanced by a light sweetness of chocolate on the finish… the best vintage of Clos Cantenac that I have ever tasted.”

Elegance Rose du Clos Cantenac 2019

“While this is the inaugural release of this wine it is immediately obvious to me that this is a total and utter classic….. and with only 600 bottles and 100 magnums for the world, there will no doubt be a scrum to secure stock.”

Our History

Martin Krajewski and Marcus Le Grice purchased this enchanting Saint Emilion vineyard in January 2007. The first challenge they had was to take control of the day to day management of the vines, improve the vineyard architecture and renovate the 200 year-old winery in preparation for the first harvest in late September 2007. Now in their thirteenth year of ownership of Clos Cantenac, they continue to proudly respect both the history and culture of the region and to work in a traditional way to produce these fine wines.
