Doña Paula

Our History

At Doña Paula we have invested in an extensive investigation of the influence of soil and climate on our wines: “The Terroir in Focus” project. This study carried out across all our vineyards, involved digging more than 1,000 pits to identify soil composition, coupled with ‘micro-vinifications’ to determine how soil and climate effect the ripening process.

Our Winery

Doña Paula currently owns over 700 hectares of vineyards located in the best areas of Mendoza.

Located at an altitude of 1,050 meters above sea level, Finca El Alto in Ugarteche, Luján de Cuyo is Doña Paula’s main vineyard, with many old vines, some over fifty years of age. The Malbec from this region reveals rounded and sweet tannins, with aromas of plums and dry herbs.

Finca Alluvia in Gualtallary is Doña Paula’s highest vineyard at 1,350 meters above sea level – the soil is very poor, rocky and mineral.  The days are warm and the nights cold, leading to the  Malbec of this area being an intense color with firm tannins, blackberry aromas and good acidity.
