Virgen del Galir

Our History

The Virgen del Galir winery was founded in 2002 in Éntoma, a small village in Galicia, Northern Spain.

The “Camino de Santiago” passes through Éntoma, which nestles in a valley of the Galir river.

The rocky vineyards of Valdeorras have undergone a renaissance, having been neglected for many years and are now the source of outstanding Godello and Mencia wines.

Our Winery

We own 20 hectares of extraordinary, terraced vineyards on slate and decomposed granite soils, at an altitude of over 600 meters above sea level in this almost forgotten region.

The climate is continental with an Atlantic influence with a rainfall of 700 to 1,000 mm per year, depending on the areas. Winters are cold and summers warm.

In the press

Pagos del Galir, Godello, Valdeorras 2019

“A vivid and bright white with lemon, sliced pear and green-apple character on the nose and palate. Medium to full-bodied, layered and flavourful. Bright finish. Drink now.”
